The origin of Unicos began with a "connection."
Kiamba Town, located in the southern part of Mindanao Island, Philippines, where Unicos' eel farm is situated, is not just any piece of land. For us, it is our "place of origin" and "where dreams take shape."
In November 2017, when our representative first visited the area, he met Mr. Danda, a local partner who deeply cared for the community. With the promise to "bring happiness to all working people," the first step of Unicos' land-based aquaculture facility was established in a corner of the nature-rich beachfront.
This land of Kiamba is filled with the power of nature. The natural deep groundwater discovered through repeated drilling has been officially certified by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) as "high-quality and safe water." The spring water flows continuously, allowing our eels to grow in constantly fresh water.
Additionally, the fertile soil, mineral-rich groundwater, and sea breeze from the ocean protect the eels from disease and enhance their natural immunity. An environment that allows us to raise healthy eels with complete drug-free methods, without relying on artificial medication, is perfectly established here.
Furthermore, wrapped in an Amazon-like tropical climate with only the quiet sounds of nature, it creates a stress-free environment. The eels grow freely, healthily, and vibrantly, almost as if they were in the wild.
We at Unicos aim to realize "sustainable aquaculture" where nature and people prosper together, while protecting Kiamba's environment and creating local employment. We will deliver "coexistence with nature" that future generations can be proud of, from this land to the world.
